CBC / Radio-Canada Deploys Fujitsu Optical Network Platform

RICHARDSON, Texas—Fujitsu Network Communications announced that Canada’s national public broadcaster, CBC / Radio-Canada, has selected Fujitsu’s 1FINITY optical network platform to connect the Olympic Studio and production center in Montreal.

CBC / Radio-Canada’s network must effortlessly support peak traffic demand across multiple platforms, including live streaming, video-on-demand and mobile apps, and its video editing and post-production operations require a lightning-fast, low-latency network to transport the vast broadcast-quality digital video content, the companies said.

To meet these needs, Fujitsu 1FINITY T-Series transport blades, which deliver secure, reliable and high-speed data up to 600 Gbps, were installed on the fiber optic links that connect the remote studios of CBC / Radio-Canada and their Montreal broadcasting center.

“As a national multiplatform broadcaster and champion of Canadian culture, CBC / Radio-Canada broadcasts unique Canadian content on a world-class network,” said Annie Bogue, head of sales and marketing at Fujitsu Network Communications. “We are proud to be part of their ever-evolving broadcast and communication environment with our scalable 1FINITY platform. “
