Dragon Ball FighterZ Will Receive Restore Netcode, Producer Confirms Game Content and Balance Support Has Ended

Restoration only comes to specific platforms, however

The epic conclusion of the Dragon Ball FighterZ tournament at Evo 2022 has just taken place, and to celebrate the efforts of everyone who competed, the game’s producer, Tomoko Hiroki, appeared on stage to deliver a special message.

Hiroki announced that after many requests, Dragon Ball FighterZ will finally see the addition of the restore netcode. While this is great news, fans have also received bittersweet confirmation that content support for DBFZ has officially ended.

Thanks to a translator, Hiroki first shared the bad news with fans. She noted that the developers feel that Dragon Ball FighterZ is in a good position in terms of balance, and because of that, there are no more balance updates planned.

On top of that, no new characters will join the roster. Lab Coat 21 was the most recent DLC fighter to join the playable cast, and now we have confirmation that she is also the last.

“With the latest update, which just released a few weeks ago, we believe Dragon Ball FighterZ has been settled to the best of its ability,” Hiroki said through a translator. “We have no future plans for new characters or additional balance adjustments,” Hiroki said.

On the plus side, fans can expect the rollback netcode implementation. A better online experience has been something players have been asking for since launch, so it’s truly a treat to see that people’s voices have been heard.

Hiroki explained that restoration will be added to Xbox Series X releases | S, PlayStation 5 and PC of the game. Those playing on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will see the upgrade paths made available to them later, but more information will be available on social media in the future.

“We decided to implement netcode rollback in Dragon Ball FighterZ,” she said. “The feature will be implemented on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X and PC versions. For players who already own the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, we plan to provide you with upgrade paths, through an upgrade program level,” Hiroki concluded.
