Fans react to last live broadcast from Brockhampton before indefinite hiatus – Press Enterprise
For weeks, members of hip-hop boy band Brockhampton have marked Saturday, April 23, on their calendars. They advertised on social media in January that their performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival would be their last before going on an indefinite hiatus.
The band was formed in 2010 as AliveSinceForever, and rebranded four years later as Brockhampton. Its founding members — Kevin Abstract, Ameer Vann, Joba, Matt Champion and Merlyn Wood — all met on an online Kanye West forum while attending high school in San Marcos, Texas. They last performed at Coachella in 2018.
The band members, along with industry producers and musicians who have worked with them along the way, took to social media to say goodbye:
Honestly, my heart has been pounding in my chest since I woke up today. I can’t believe the last Brockhampton show is today,
I can’t believe I won’t be 25 anymore,
I can’t believe someone lived in the space that was my home before me and someone else will after it’s demolished pic.twitter.com/7heO8oB1Pk“MERLYN! (@merlynwood) April 23, 2022
