Philadelphia ranked 20th best city to celebrate July 4th, WalletHub report says – CBS Philly
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – In 2020, the July 4 celebrations were not the same due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But now, as a sense of normalcy begins to return thanks to vaccination efforts across the country, the next vacation should be filled with fireworks, barbecues and other events.
And if you want to travel for the holidays, WalletHub, a personal finance website, posted a report on the best and worst places in 2021 for the July 4th celebrations.

Philadelphia ranked 20th out of 100 cities.
WalletHub ranked cities based on their balance of spending on vacation and entertainment. The metrics they used ranged from the cost of alcohol, the duration of the fireworks, and potential weather forecasts for the holidays.

Philadelphia ranking for July 4th activities:
- 5e – Walkability
- 1st – Legality of fireworks
- 6e – Number of festivals and shows on July 4
- 53rd – Average daily cases of COVID-19 in the past week per capita
- 15e – Avg. July 4th Party Ticket Price
- 1st – Prevalence of affordable 4.5+ star restaurants
- 5e – Duration of the fireworks show
The top three cities to celebrate Independence Day were New York, San Francisco, and Chicago.
