Our latest “Project of the Week” distinction goes to a double development of minor hotels in the Middle East, which marks the group’s important strategic entry into Bahrain.
Minor will launch its Avani and Tivoli brands in the island nation when Avani Bilaj Al Jazayer Bahrain Resort and Tivoli Bilaj Al Jazayer Bahrain Resort open in the first quarter of 2024.
Waterfront Master Plan
The pair are part of Bilaj Al Jazayer, a new mixed-use waterfront leisure masterplan owned by Edamah, the real estate arm of Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund, Mumtalakat. The new development will offer resorts, residential villas and apartments, food and beverage outlets, retail, office and entertainment.
The Avani and Tivoli hotels, each with 110 keys, will be located along the main boulevard of Bilaj Al Jazayer on the waterfront. Avani Bilaj Al Jazayer will offer a selection of rooms and suites, an all-day dining restaurant, an Avani Pantry and pool bar, plus an outdoor pool, gym, and meeting space.
Tivoli Bilaj Al Jazayer’s facilities will include rooms and suites, two restaurants, two bars and a cafe, an outdoor swimming pool, a gym, as well as spa and wellness facilities. Additionally, the hotels will share a beach club within the Bilaj Al Jazayer development. Mohamed Salahuddin Consulting Engineering Bureau is the architect of the sister stations.
Bilaj Al Jazayer is located on the southwest coast of Bahrain and spans 1.3 million square meters of land with a three kilometer beachfront. Manama, Bahrain’s capital and main city, is a 25-minute drive away and the Bahrain International F1 Circuit and Dilmun Water Park are nearby.
William E. Heinecke, Chairman and Founder of Minor International, said: “The entry of Minor Hotels into Bahrain is of key strategic importance to the group, strengthening our portfolio in the region and continuing to grow the footprint of the Avani and Tivoli brands. The country is well positioned with high quality infrastructure and services, and committed and very energetic leadership. I have visited many times over the years and particularly enjoyed my time as an F1 fan. I am very happy to have visited once again, this time visiting Bilaj Al Jazayer and the site of our future Avani and Tivoli hotels.”
Dill Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International and CEO of Minor Hotels, said, “These two new hotels will mark the debut of Minor Hotels in Bahrain and strengthen our presence in the GCC. The addition of Avani and Tivoli hotels in Bahrain demonstrates our continued commitment to operating in the Middle East and growing these two brands in the region. It is an honor to partner with Edamah, Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund, to deliver these first hotels of Bilaj Al Jazayer’s master plan development and we look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership in the years to come.
