Roundup: Host Coldwater Wins Volleyball Tournament


COLDWATER – The Cavaliers hosts opened their season by winning Saturday’s Totally Promotional Cavalier Spikeoff. Coldwater defeated New Knoxville 25-23, 25-13 in the Championship game after dominating Miami East 25-9, 25-19 and St. Henry 25-15, 23-25, 25-15. New Knoxville had previously beaten St. Marys 25-9, 25-20 and Fort Loramie 25-14, 25-19. St. Henry defeated Ottawa-Glandorf 22-25, 26-24, 25-15 in the first round and overcame Fort Loramie 25-20, 25-23 to finish third. OG dominated Miami East 25-17, 25-11 in the consolation bracket, then beat Versailles 25-11, 25-6 to finish fourth. St. Marys lost 25-18, 25-19 to Versailles in the consolation game, then outscored Miami East 13-25, 25-23, 25-22 for a seventh place finish.

For Coldwater, against Miami East Morgan Blasingame six aces and five kills, Jenna Leugers had five kills, Annelise Harlamert had 16 assists and seven digs and Riley Rismiller had three blocks in total. Against St. Henry, Leugers had 17 assists, Blasingame and Spencer Etzler each had eight, Harlamert had 35 assists and Aubrey Koester had 15 digs. Against New Knoxville, Blasingame had three aces and five digs, Leugers had seven kills and five digs, Spencer Etzler had six kills. Harlamert had 14 assists and six digs and Rismiller had three blocks in total.

For St. Marys against New Knoxville Halle Huston and Brynn Clark had four assists each, Lily Rammel had nine assists and Ashley Nuss had two aces. Against Versailles, Clark had nine assists, Huston six assists, Rammel 13 assists and Brynn Clark three aces. Against Miami East, Huston had 14 kills, Clark had seven kills and four blocks in total, Syerra Greber had seven assists and Rammel had 24 assists.

LIMA – Bath won 25-16, 25-21, 25-9. Tiana Spivey had eight assists and four assists and Tillie Nelson had four assists and three aces for Lima Senior. Bath’s individual stats were not released before the deadline.

SPENCERVILLE – Host Bearcats beat Ridgemont 25-20, 25-18 and Perry 25-20, 25-21. Against Perry, Claire Hoback and Isabelle Murray each had eight kills, Lydia Falke and Bethany Monroe three aces each and Murray nine digs.

BEDFORD – Lima Central Catholic finished eighth in the team competition with a total of 339 at par 71 over Shawnee Hills. Highland won the Tag Team Championship with a score of 309. Emma Mayers (79), Bridget Mulcahy (81), Carlie VanMeter (86) and Leiahnni Smith (93) combined for the LCC total. Cara Heisterkamp from Magnificat was a medalist with a 70.
